Set against the wild, untamed backdrop of Sable Island, meet Beatrice the Superintendent’s daughter. Growing up in a male dominated environment where riding and shooting are commonplace, she challenges the prescribed roles for women in the early 20th Century. Into her insulated world, come Marconi’s men who dramatically alter the social fabric of the island. Following the construction of the wireless station in 1905, sparks of electricity sent into the ether from the tappers in the wireless hut are soon transformed into sparks of passion as the young wireless operators compete for the Beauty of the Sable Sands.
